RING....RING..........

The cell phone is one of the most rapidly growing new technologies in the world. In 2001, cell phone subscriptions were less than a billion worldwide with the majority of the subscriptions from the developed countries. At the end of 2010, however, cell phone subscriptions had reached five billion worldwide with subscriptions from developing countries outnumbering that of the developed countries. Cell phones have become one of the basic of our lives. We eat with them, live with them, sleep with them, work with them......some of us cant even imagine how our ex-generation lived when these phones weren't there.

Cell phones have brought a whole new meaning to the term multitasking. Twenty years ago, it was not possible to talk to the office while you were at the grocery store picking up some necessary items. Cell phones have also enabled families to keep in closer touch with each other. We can make urgent calls in case of some emergency. We cant connect to anyone anywhere in the world with just a press of few buttons. Now a days cell phones have become much more than just a phone.....it can do many wonders like video browsing, games, internet, music & much more. Cell phones have changed the way of life.

But cell phones also have a negative side too. During recent years, the use of mobile phones has increased substantially and has been paralleled by a
growing concern about the effects on health attributed to exposure to the electromagnetic fields produced by them and their base stations. Demonstrating that radiation causes adverse effects on health would signal a widespread public health problem. Mobile phones emit radio frequency or microwave radiation. Exposure to such a radiation could affect health directly. Research is still being done to find concrete conclusions to the affect of cell phones on human body. In the meantime we should talk till necessary & use earpiece whenever we can.

Cell phones can even become an addiction for some. Majority of teens say that they wont have a social life without their cell phones. But life went on before cell phones were invented didn't it......Our parents survived right. But they use them now & it has become a necessity for them. No one blames them. The world is becoming so advanced & fast for us all that we have to keep up with it. For this we need cell phones & other such gadgets. As for social life i know we can call our friends anytime we want or text them.....But what about that person standing right in front of you. Today when people are waiting for a bus or something, they just pull out their cell phones and speak with old friends, missing out on the opportunity to make new ones. In large cities, many people do not know their neighbors, even though they may have lived in the same neighborhood for years. As a society, we are beginning to lose the face-to-face contact that was such an important part of our lives in the past.

Cell phones have changed our lives in both good ways and bad ways. All in all, I'm not saying that cell phones are a bad thing......We should just remember, however, to hang up every once in a while and pay attention to the world around you...... Its a Beautiful World out there.
